Proflax tinctures explained
The herbs used in Proflax tinctures have been carefully selected for their therapeutic benefits. The dried herb is taken and put through a process called maceration, which means that the herb is steeped in a solvent in order to extract the beneficial bioative compounds. The solvent used is called ethanol.
How safe are tinctures that have been macerated in ethanol?
Tinctures are generally safe for dogs when used as directed, thanks to the extremely low amount of alcohol in the final product. Although ethanol is used during the extraction process to pull out beneficial plant compounds, most of the alcohol is removed afterward. What remains is a minimal amount—far below harmful levels—which is then further diluted when blended with our oils (either flax or fish). In fact, 75% of the final mixture is oil, and only 25% is the herbal tincture blend.
To put this into perspective, it would take around 375 drops of pure alcohol consumed all at once, to pose a danger to dogs, which is far in excess of what would ever be used in a single serving. Plus, tinctures aren’t pure alcohol to begin with. The small doses recommended for dogs contain alcohol levels that are well below any toxic threshold, making them both safe and effective when used properly.

I never ever review products but I have to review this product. This truly has sorted our 9 year old boy who we had returned to us 9 years later through no fault of his own. He was a humper. We started him on Horny Hound in desperation. 1 week in he is a model dog. He is so calm and has stopped humping. Poor little man must have been so anxious. It's still early days using this but so far I am seeing some seriously encouraging improvements. Es suffers with stiffness in the muscles and has been on another joint supplement for a while but I just didn't feel it was quite right. So after some research I decided to try this one from Proflax. Everything else I have given the dogs (especially Es) has worked well. When i read the ingredients and reviews it was ticking a lot of boxes for me so I thought lets try it. Its only been a few weeks and I introduced it slowly as she can be sensitive, but this week alone I have seen Es do things she hasn't done for a long time. For example, she jumped up and lifted her back end, this hasn't happened for a long time. She has been racing about like a crazy women and doing zoomies around the house. She has also not shown any stiffness after a long walk. I can only assume its all because of this pot of magic!! I plan to put the other 2 dogs on it as well. Again, it looks like we have found another Proflax product that works brilliantly.
