The benefit of herbs for your dog

Herbs have been around for thousands of years and have powerful therapeutic properties. Through extensive research, it is now understood that ‘conventional’ medicine derived from plants. 

Over the last Century, herbs have been used more to support and maintain our own good health & wellbeing and we are now choosing to include herbs and other natural remedies to support the health of our animals.

Have you noticed that your dog may forage and choose to eat different plants/herbs etc at different times? This is a process called Zoopharmacognosy or (self-selection/self-medicating) and is a natural way for your dog to support itself both physically and emotionally. In the Western world, it can be difficult for your dog to naturally find the herbs that it would select in the wild, and as such Proflax have created herbal blends for each of your dogs ailments, which they would most likely select if they had access to them.

Every herb in its natural active state is made up of dozens of unique bioactive chemicals (phyto-chemicals) and nutrients called phytonutrients which contain trace minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. 

We use only the finest medicinal/practitioner grade herbal tinctures; flower, leaf or root. The herbs are macerated in either natural alcohol or vegetable glycerine (a standard procedure for herbal extraction with tinctures). This process is the best way of extracting all of the goodness out of the herb giving it the very best therapeutic effect. Dried herbs tend to lose much of their goodness and bioactive compounds due to the heating process they go through.

Herbs can be used as an integral part of a holistic approach to health as they can support an animals physical body as well as their emotional wellbeing, when selected correctly. This is a technical process and involves understanding the qualities of each herb and its actions.
